First of all, when i go to the store, 9 times out of 10 my basket looks like this:

Ham. Chocolate Donuts. Coke. (yes, that ham is called “yurun.” Feel free to make all the jokes you want in the comments.)

But then, when i eat with Brian, he hooks me up with the good stuff:

That steaming hot plate of goodness is roughly translated as “black pepper beef.” mmm…

The label might be same colors as Sprite. It might even resemble the Sprite logo. But that junk ain’t Sprite. If you ever find yourself thirsty while in China, steer clear of the SOPBL. Think of it like out-dated cough syrup with bubbles…a few bubbles.

This is another entry into the fun, yet not so fun category of “Tonight i ate.”

So last night i was at the airport in Xi’an and i found a coffee shop. “Perfect”, I thought. I sat down at a table, politely asked for a menu and then realized i can’t read the dishes. I had the waitress name a few dishes. I started feeling bad that she had to name off all the dishes so i finally just chose one; the cheapest one. My logic there was since it’s a mystery i’ll just go low on price.

Well… of course as my life would have it… a big plate of tomato’s with sugar comes out. Does anyone out there in biscuet.com-land understand how much i hate tomatoes? I don’t like tomatoes on sandwiches, on hamburgers, on salads, on ANYTHING! I simply don’t like tomatoes. I certainly don’t like a plate full of tomatoes with sugar sprinkled on top:

So, i didn’t technically eat this tonight… but it still falls into the “tonight i ate” category.

My teammate, Genevieve, made an amazing crab apple pie the other night. I hate to admit it, but i didn’t have high hopes for the pie so i was truly shocked and amazed at the deliciousness that abounded. Check it out:

It’s a new category and a new twist to biscuet.com. I get so many questions about the food here that i decided to make a category called, “Tonight i ate.” Whenever i weird or even normal food i’ll try to document it for you.

Let’s start now.

Tonight i ate… wonderful microwave pizza. I got home from class with only 30 minutes before a team meeting so i had to throw something together quickly. A nice Chinese microwavable pizza was perfect. I wanted to take a picture of the actual pizza, but i ate it. Those green things in the picture… don’t worry, those are english peas. Delicious.
