Whether you are visiting or living in Beijing, i have compiled a short list of “Must Do’s.” I’ve tried to avoid the really touristy ones that everyone seems to do. So, if you are confused about what i’m talking about then that’s all the more reason to come hang out with me in Beijing. Without further ado, it’s the biscuet.com list of Must Do’s while in Beijing, China…
- Eat a pizza and some chicken wings on a stick on the rooftop terrace at Mystica Cafe near the UME International Cinema off of Sitong Bridge on the 3rd ring road.
- Drink a Strawberry Colada near the window that looks out over the lake at No Name Bar in Hou Hai.
- And while you’re in Hou Hai, get a ghetto massage on the sidewalk. You’ll be staring out over the water while an elderly Chinese man beats the crap outta your shoulders and scalp.
- Eat a gigantic BBQ Chicken pizza at the Kro’s Nest. I prefer the one near the west gate of Peking University, but if you want to sit outside then i can also suggest the one at the north entrance of the Worker’s Stadium.
- Take a walk through the campus of Peking University. Probably the most beautiful college campus on earth.
- Go to Alfa, a night club across from the north entrance of the Worker’s Stadium. It gets pretty crazy on the weekends so go on a week night. Sit in the front room where the environment is beautiful, serene and quiet. Order a fruit platter and enjoy hanging out with your friends.
- If you need to get some work done, check out Sculpting in Time in Wudaokou. They have a rooftop terrace that is shaded from the sun and beautiful. Order a pitcher of Iced Fruit Tea (trust me, get the pitcher). Then use their free wifi to catch up on email.
- While you’re in Wudaokou, if you get hungry, cruise next door from Sculpting to The Bridge Cafe. They have fantastic panini’s and pasta’s. Also, if you want breakfast then you should try the American Breakfast. It’s all delicious! Oh, and The Bridge Cafe also has free wifi.
- Definitely go to The Place. The Place is near the Silk Market. If nothing else, just go there to see the 100 yard long wide screen video ceiling. It will blow you away. But heck, if you go over there you might as well eat at one of the many amazing restaurants. I can recommend for you to eat at GangLi. GangLi is a Hong Kong style restaurant and it is phenomenal!! Top 5 best meals i’ve had in China. Seriously.
- Go to one of the many parks in Beijing and rent a boat and cruise around. Some options are Summer Palace, Bei Hai Park, or Hou Hai. It’s peaceful and quiet out there on the water.
- Go to Wei Gong Cun and eat at any of the Ethnic Restaurants. I can particularly recommend the Dai Restaurant with the golden peacock for a sign. Order the potato balls and the pineapple rice.
- Need a quick trip to America without getting on an airplane? Go walk around at The Village at Sanlitun. Check out the Apple Store, the American Apparel store, and if you get hungry definitely go eat at The Blue Frog.
- Get on the subway, get off at a stop you’ve never stepped off of before and go get lost. Don’t worry, you can always make your way back to that subway stop so just get lost and explore something new.
Hope you enjoy these hotspots in Beijing. This is a great city with a ton to offer, take advantage of it!

Absolutely loved Hou Hai! For a slice of Texas (sort of) we hit Tim’s Texas BBQ near the Silk Market. Actually pretty good for Beijing BBQ. I would also say a “must do” is to hit one of the large grocery etc stores like Carrefour. That was sensory overload, but fun!

From the desert state of Rajasthan, this one’s a delight. The Rajasthani people were often deprived of fresh vegetables and fruits in their hostile arid environment. Most also happened to be die-hard vegetarians. They used non-perishable dried legumes, and root vegetables such as potatoes, onions and garlic capable of prolonged storage
