Big Week
Tomorrow starts midterms for my English classes. The students are nervous. I’m nervous. It should be a disaster. Can’t wait.
I made them sign up for 5-minute time slots for me to test them on their oral English ability. I got a text message tonight that said, “Is our exam tomorrow?”
I slapped my hand on my forehead and thought, “This should be a fun week.”
However, later this week i have a big exciting announcement about some cool stuff we’re getting cranked up around here. We (the foreign teachers) are really excited and have been preparing for quite some time. I’ll bring you in later this week as we get everything together.
But how about you? It’s Monday morning… the week is getting started… Are you excited? Nervous? Big plans? Small plans? Dreaming of something new? Stuck in a rut you want to get out of? Do Monday’s excite you for what’s ahead? Or do they make you wish Sunday lasted forever?
Pipe up… Tell me about your Monday and what’s on the horizon for your week… i’ll pray for you as you pray for these midterms to be smooth and easy for my students.

Well, it’s my sisters 30th birthday tomorrow so most of the week will be taken up with pretty much incessant mickey-taking. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it and what else is family for?! Actually, I’m really excited as I have got her a great gift which she has no idea about - I keep dropping hints that I’ve got her a t-shirt but then can’t help myself and have to drop a hint that she’s getting something much bigger! I’m rubbish!
Good luck to you for the exams too - I’d be more nervous testing than I would be being tested, but then English is my first language……..

Today was a normal Monday with high-strung 2nd graders that were “so naughty”. However, after school we spent a long time practicing (I was learning!) the dance that we’re performing Tues and Wed nights, and rehearsing the songs that we’re signing with our co-teachers - one of the songs is in Chinese. AWESOME… the kids are preoccupied with the performances, so classes are sporadically canceled and makes teaching difficult (and I can forget the tests I wanted to give!). Thursday night we have our Study, then Friday night hanging out w/ a friend from the US from Fellowship. BUSY week. But it’s energizing and we’re getting to spend a lot of time with our co-workers this way, even if it’s high stress.

Our hospital is getting ready for our big “test” called The Joint Commission, our accreditation survey, so I was in class all day. Then this evening I went to church to teach choreography to our drama troupe in the Adult Christmas musical. Besides working the rest of my week goes like this: Tomorrow afternoon, Amis and I are going to Birmingham to do a class call “Sips & Stems” on flower arranging for the women’s home builders group. Thursday evening we begin working on Hillary Ballants wedding flowers for Saturday. That will take all of Friday and Saturday. But most importantly Friday evening, Jennifer, Alan, Dad, and I will call you to wish you Happy Birthday! Well, that’s my week and it’s going to be great! Love always, Mom
