Give Grace

(Today is my day to Inspire Action and my team blogger is Jeanine. Read her post here.)

When it comes to social justice around the world everybody wants to try to do everything. You know what i mean: create clean water in Africa, provide for orphans, cure AIDS victims, release people from poverty, stop women from being trafficked into sex slavery, and many more. Social justice issues are in virtually every corner of the planet. I talk to people everyday that are trying to figure out what their part is to bring reconciliation to our world.

About a year ago, Give Grace was launched as an initiative that gives people an opportunity to give just $20 a month to literally see change happen around the world.

Give Grace is structured in three major categories: Reaching, Equipping and Investing.

Reaching: Give Grace sponsors several orphans at Bethany Village in Uganda and at the Philip Hayden Foundation in China. It’s amazing to see how $20 a month changes lives in two continents. A couple of months ago i visited Philip Hayden and held the very kids that Give Grace sponsors. That was an amazing moment to see the generosity of Americans create real, tangible change in the life of a child 10,000 miles aways.

Equipping: Give Grace is also setup to support individuals that have discovered their calling to go into the world as bright lights. Currently, Give Grace is sponsoring me, an english teacher in China and also one other person living in China as a university student . Again, a simple $20 a month is providing the opportunity to share Life with university students throughout China. For me, living in China is a life changing experience, where my life changes and I get to see change in other people. As China’s economy continues to boom you find many university students looking to find meaning and purpose for their lives. This is where I have the opportunity to share my life and invest into the students. You can read through the archives here at Biscuet.com to see more about my life as a teacher in China.

Investing: This portion of Give Grace is designed to invest into future goers and senders. Grace Campus Ministries is a college ministry at Auburn University that develops passionate followers of Christ. The students learn what it means to be deeply rooted in a local community and also how to shine a light of love into a dark world. Grace Campus offers opportunities each year for students to serve short term trips in both Africa and Asia. Recently, the students from Auburn spent time with the orphans at Bethany Village and also a few students are teaching summer english classes in Southeast Asia. Also, for the next year Give Grace and Grace Campus will be investing into a Ugandan named David as he moves to Auburn to spend a year working with college students and going through a leadership program with Grace Campus.

The purpose of Give Grace is to give people an opportunity to give a small amount of money each month that creates global impact through several different means. As students in Auburn are Invested into, then they are Equipped to go into the world and Reach those that are longing to know Christ. I hope you will consider being a part of this movement by going to www.givegrace.net and reading more.

I read your partner’s blog and it brought tears to my eyes. She truly has the heart of a mother and I hope her dreams of motherhood come to fruition. Great job on this blog. If this doesn’t put a fire under you, “your wood’s wet”. :)
