Summer 2009 Memories

September 11, 2009

As i settle back into Beijing my mind is beginning to process all that happened during the summer in America. I have amazing memories from this past summer. It was very unforgettable in ways that i can’t put into words here. But here’s my best shot at identifying some of my favorite memories from the summer of 2009:

  • Biscuit’s Baseball with my Dad.
  • Bowling with my parents on my first night back. That really helped with jet lag.
  • Meeting my nephew, Michael.
  • Panera Bread in the mornings with my amazing friend Brian.
  • The swimming hole with John.
  • Road tripping with Dan. He was such a great friend to drive me around the country when i thought my license was expired and suspended.
  • Randomly being a guest speaker at a conference in Kentucky with my friend Proctor. Apparently i was live on the internet during that talk. Interesting and bizarre.
  • Happy hour at Sonic.
  • Act of Congress at Eighth & Rail.
  • Walks in parks.
  • An incredibly gracious friend who offered to iron my clothes just because she wanted to help me.
  • Knowing that i’ll never ever forget that summer and the brief moments that made it spectacular.

Thank you to everyone who made my summer in America as special as it was. I owe you big time. I could make a list twice as long as this one or maybe even three times as long. There is a lot more from the summer that i’ll just sort of hold on to as my own because that’s part of what makes it special. But just know, everyone i got to see and hang out with was an integral part of making my short stay in America a very special time. Thank you.

Anyone else have great memories from their summer that they want to share?
