The Number One

June 11, 2009

Tonight Dan and i went to my new hole-in-the-wall rooftop restaurant. I can’t even describe to you how to get there. It’s hidden in a back alley and tucked away between a few small restaurants and several small locally owned clothing stores. To get to the restaurant we had to drive the moped down a small road and weave our way around the crowds meandering their way through the busy streets. It’s an adventure just to get to this diamond in the rough, but once you arrive then you know you have entered one of the greatest places on earth.

While we were eating some chicken wings and squid on a stick Dan looked around, laughed a little blissful laugh and said, “Beijing is officially my number one vacation spot!”

What were his reasons? He said:

  • The people are extremely friendly.
  • The food is amazing.
  • Beijing has a mixture of city life and “China life.”

I agree completely. All i can think to say in response is, “I told you so.”

What would you say is your #1 vacation spot on the planet?

Check out Dan living it up in Beijing!…

  1. I totally agree! In fact those are some of the same words I used to describe our trip to friends and family.

  2. I do not know how in the world your mother does it, she must have that motherly instinct to know when you have made a post to you blog, cuz she always seems to be the first to reply.

The same goes for me, when describing our recent trip to friends, family and co-workers- the food is “different” but good, more important is how friendly the people are. They appreciate OLD people! Plus the old Chinese and the new Chinese cultures are both in Beijing. Great place to live and/or visit!!

  3. Next year you should take me to that place. In fact a lot of place you think is great!I will become a beijinger soon with your help.

  4. 1) Heck yes Beijing is a vacation hot spot! I love it.

    2) Laughed a little blissful laugh? Next time the new guy is around, gotta hear that.

    3) Mine is pretty much anywhere with good friends. And boats. I do love boats.
