Biscuet the Babysitter

December 11, 2009

Most people are scared to ask me to babysit. They are completely justified in their fear. I don’t think i’ve ever actually been given such a daunting responsibility. That is, until tonight. I’m in Fort Collins, Colorado and after a day full of meetings i was asked to watch a few kids for a few hours while the parents went to an important dinner. To be honest, i wasn’t looking forward to this, but to be fair, it wasn’t really babysitting. Two of the girls are 12 years old so they sort of take care of everything. Let me just say… We had a BLAST!

I took them to get burritos at Chipotle and that was a really cool experience. I loaded up the car with 5 kids and drove through the snowy streets of Fort Collins to get them to a delicious dinner. They all did really well at dinner and then we went home to watch Survivor and i put the little ones to bed at 7:30. I had a great time laughing with them, talking to them, and just goofing off and being the funny clueless adult.

Here’s my favorite conversation from the night::

Silas:: “It’s almost my birthday you know!!”

Me:: “Oh really!? When’s your birthday??”

Silas:: “February 28th!”

Me:: “Wow! So close”

And here’s the crew of coolest kids around::
