Dream Bigger

September 12, 2008

I think a lot about dreams. No, i don’t mean the crazy movie in your head when you’re asleep. I mean the dreams that keep you awake when you should be sleeping. I’m talking about dreams of greater things. Dreams of hope and joy invading our lives and the world around us. Dreams of doing something extraordinary so that when you leave this earth it has more of a flavor of heaven because you dared to live fully alive.

There seems to be a constant lesson for me to hold loosely to my dreams. I’m not into planning out my life, but i do love to dream about it. I love to dream about what stirs me, changes me and shakes me up. Sometimes i want all the answers and sometimes i just want to dream. Lately, i’ve been wanting to see the next step so i can take it. The honest truth is that the next step is right here. It’s today.

What are you dreaming about? Some people reading this are 30, 40, 50, and even older and have believed the lie that the dreaming is for the young folks. I say that’s a part of an evil plan to drive you into contentment and mere existence.

Dream bigger,
Biscuet

  1. I really have a heart for women’s rights. It just hurts me to know that there are still women who are being abused and suppressed. I just know that that is not what God wants. I am pursuing this dream through my studies. I study Language and Culture Studies with a major in Women’s Studies. My goal is to work at a charity organization or a women’s organization. So my dream is basically to do something for women who are being suppressed.
I have another dream and that is to be a singer-songwriter. After 8 years of not taking singing lessons (I am 22) I took singing lessons again (last week). I also begin to play the guitar and in the end I hope to write songs.

  2. I love the verse that says “your old men with dream dreams and your young men will see visions”….i wonder if we are living in those days…

I dream of being a part of a movement greater than myself and my own selfish dreams.
I think some dreams we should live for is a world where all peoples actually hear about the love of Jesus (what an amazing Outcome that is going to be)…and seeing global injustices solved…like human trafficking.
I also have a dream for seeing the mainstream Western Church become (and be known for being) a true authentic place for worship, service, and creativity.

  3. Dreaming- that’s what keeps me going. As you say, hoping to leave the world a better place- in my case, one child at a time. I guess that’s why my focus is children. As the saying goes (paraphrased), “In a hundred years no one will remember my name, how much I had, or what I did; but what will matter is that I was important in the life of a child.”
    Loving you forever, Mom

  4. I love your words…can I quote you and share this with my friends on my blog?

I’ve been thinking of dreams too since this was my year to turn 50. It was bothering me…the number 50 until I started remembering my dreams. They are a gift and inspiration to move forward.

I want to write (blogging was the first step and now I am writing fiction), learning new languages (Spanish, Greek, Hebrew,French),but most of all continue rehab to walk better, and to be healthy….those are the BIG DREAMS!
